How it works:

To allow us to efficiently design your steelwork package or supply as-built plans we have introduced 3D LIDAR scanning to our services.  Now when we visit your site to take those important site measurements we are not limited to using just tape measures and Laser pointers.  We can 3D scan your site to produce accurate high-density point clouds and 3D mesh information that when plugged into our Tekla 3D modelling software allows us to design around real-world data.  However, whilst our latest scanning equipment is taking these measurements it is also taking 4K photographic images.  This allows us to share with our clients an interactive 3D digital twin of the site that they can walk around using their computer or mobile device wherever they are in the world.  Whilst walking around this digital twin you can also take site measurements using the interactive web tools provided utilising the hidden 3D mesh behind the photographic images.​

What is a DIGITAL TWIN?​

When we conduct a 3D LiDAR survey we are digitising the real world producing a 3D mesh and Point Cloud of the environment. This data has produced a digital replica known as a Digital Twin.

We offer 2 3D LiDAR Scanning options:

 

1) Scan-to-Design:

We will use the complex data to accurately 3D design/model within the digital environment reducing the time involved with processing traditional manual survey dimensions and eliminating costly errors.  This ability to model directly in the point cloud is invaluable when trying to ensure a design works within the confines of the space and identifying potential clashes.

 

2) Scan-to-Cad:

By creating accurate sections through the digital twin we can create accurate as-built architectural 2D plans and elevations, supplied to you in fully editable .dwg format.

Walk the site 24/7 with a Virtual Tour

For our clients their is also an additional benefit.  We are able to provide access to an immersive 3D Virtual Tour of the surveyed site.  The site can be viewed as a dolls-house, plan views plus a 3D walkaround.  This cloud based Digital Twin allows the user to virtually walkaround the site and take measurements to revolutionise how they can interact with the environment from any location on any device.  This unmatched 3D visual clarity will streamline your Project Management across every phase of design and construction.  Clients have seen up to a 50% reduction in travel time by using and sharing digital twins.

We can also provide embed codes should you want to display the interactive Digital Twin on your companies website or Intranet to aid collaboration across your networks.​​
