Introducing Thecaddesigner's recent project, Construction LiDAR Scan-to-CAD in Norway.

Our client, specialising in Construction Consultation & Design in the UK and Europe, faces challenges during manual building surveys, which can lead to incomplete data capture. Thecaddesigner's innovative solution using LiDAR technology ensures accurate and comprehensive data collection, elevating their design process and project outcomes.

Thecaddesigner's LiDAR Scan-to-CAD is the perfect solution for them. We flew out and 3D scanned the building in one day, capturing all of the internal and external details so that we could provide accurate architectural building plans.

By importing the E57 point cloud into our software we can create sections through the building to generate plans and elevations. The 2D plans were supplied in fully editable .dwg format to our client allowing their design department to complete their construction proposals. Whilst considering how to best use the spaces in the building our client has to consider fire exit locations and where best to place external fire escape stairs. The combination of accurate CAD plans with the ability to walk around the site using the Virtual Tour is invaluable to their business, they can make better informed decisions and complete the designs in record times without ever having to re-visit site to verify details.
